Acrylic Paper
November 24, 2011
I wanted to try some acrylic papers so I can sketch and paint quickly without using canvas or boards. Ended up buying these two 400g paper, Strathmore (linen texture) and Canson (coldpress). I only used the Strathmore one and so far I like the result. It doesn’t warp too much when applying washes and holds color pretty well.
Canson paper has a pretty smooth surface so I think it will work great with details, I haven’t tried it so lets see how it goes.

Pipe

Painting of an old western guy smoking a pipe.
I became a fan of “Deadwood” a couple of months ago, watched the whole show in a couple of weeks and really like the way the characters look. This is kinda inspired by the show, I really like the hats, the costumes and facial hair so I came up with this.

Rebus
September 30, 2011
Great!!! I just got the new James Jean book, REBUS. It’s his new book with 240 pages of artwork he created from 2001-2011. It features his illustrations, sketches and paintings (acrylic and oil) and also designs for his work on Prada. This guy can do it all!!!!
It doesn’t show any of his cover work for Fables comics and it makes sense cause there is a book already published with all of those illustrations (I own that one too!!). I really enjoy his stuff so I am glad I got this before its sold out.
